Facing Down Challenges

Facing Down Challenges

Challenges will inevitably arise during your journey, and your test will be how well you deal with them. Remember that the best predictor of success isn’t how often you avoid falling, but how you respond when you do fall. Falling (failing) is a necessary part of growth. If you learn to recover quickly, you’ll eventually triumph!

Here are some ways to cope with the challenges that trip you up:

  • Take time to think things over; mull over the situation for a few days
  • Write down your thoughts and feelings
  • Stop and ask yourself a variation of the Core Question from Week 2; for example: ‘‘What’s the worst that could happen? If that happened, could I recover?’
  • Tap into faith; pray for guidance, strength, and answers
  • Become task-oriented; jot down a ‘to-do’ list and start doing something else to achieve your goal! This distracts you from feeling bad and at the same time gets you moving forward
  • Run to the gym. Letting off physical steam can help clear your mind
  • Tap into your reinvention team and brainstorm with them to come up with ways to solve the challenge
